Do you like words?

I entered a neat contest today. The prize is $20. If you like words, this one’s for you. To enter you just read through the Words to Know on the It’s Write Now blog. You’ll need to be able to leave a comment on this post using four of the words to know. Easy! Go try it, it’s fun. I’m in, I wrote mine today. I’ve pasted it below.

“I thought of my mother immediately when I read about this contest. My mother often considers herself as a deipnosophist, although many people actually think of her as a sesquipedalian. I love her dearly but I dread the frequent somniferous telephone conversations with her that she so seems to enjoy. I should be safe this weekend, as my hirsute uncle is in town for a holiday visit and staying at her house.”

Discussing our next major family vacation

Recently we have been discussing our next major family vacation. We know we will be going to Walt Disney World again, probably in 2009. We all want to do another cruise, but when we do that will depend on if we decide to try and do a family trip with my parents and/or a brother. We’re also considering other locations, and one that both my hubby and myself are interested in is New Orleans.

My husband has never been to New Orleans. I traveled to New Orleans with my parents and one brother when I was a teenager. I was amazed by everything I saw there. It’s been a very long time, and I’m a lot older now, so to make sure that some places are still there and some tours still exist we’d be best off going through a place like Trusted Tours and Attractions. When my family was there we walked the French Quarter, saw Jackson Square and the St Louis Cathedral, toured the Garden District and visited the Audubon Zoo. The place I remember most vividly is Cafe du Monde on Riverwalk. That was the first time I had cafe au lait and beignets. They were so good I can still remember the smell and taste. If you’re ever in New Orleans you must stop there.

We’re not going to be able to travel to New Orleans for a while but in the meantime we’re signed up for the Trusted Travel eNewsletter. Everyone who signs up for the eNewsletter is entered into the contest for an iPod Nano, which ends 12/31/07. I have to go make some coffee now, thanks to my little trip down memory lane.
