Black Friday ads

You may or may not be aware that each year, around October, the ads for Black Friday sales are published on the internet. I don’t mind. I get a sneak peek at what’s going on sale. Well this year Walmart has demanded that some sites displaying the Walmart ads take them down or they’ll sue for leaking privileged information. I’m not exactly sure what the problem is. The products don’t go on sale until Black Friday. What’s the difference between making the decision to buy something or not now or in a few weeks. Post your thoughts on this.

Recalled items

Be careful if shopping on eBay. eBay has announced it will be taking action against sellers that are selling recalled items. eBay will be attempting to educate buyers about recalled items by linking to a government recall database. With the holidays approaching and so many toys being sold on eBay, shop smart and check that what you’re bidding on is safe. At the time the article I read was written, many recalled Mattel and Thomas & Friends toys were listed.
In other recall news, plush baby rattles resembling sports balls imported by Target have been recalled.
I found this article from MSNBC on toy testing very interesting.
On a somewhat bizarre note, the company RC2 that makes those recalled wooden Thomas & Friends trains have recalled a gift sent to people who had purchased items that got recalled.
This link to the US Consumer Product Safety Commission includes product safety standards as well as recall information.
