Drying The Cat

Blow Dryer

Do you wash your cat? I have washed my cats for years. Right now I have one cat that won’t allow me to wash him. I have another that we got last year that I’m getting ready to give his first bath. After washing my cats I’ve always towel dried them and then let them air dry. I don’t use hand dryers because I think the noise would probably frighten them. How do you dry your cat?

Licking The Toilet

Toilet Bowl

do you let your cat lick you? I remember hearing somewhere that a cat’s saliva can be very cleansing. Good thing, considering some of the things that they lick. Aside from bathing themselves which involves licking their privates, I’ve had cats that licked some pretty odd things. We had one cat that used to lick the toilet bowl. Ew! The germs that are found there might be enough to scare you into thinking you might need to get a quote on the best term life insurance, don’t you think? What’s the strangest thing your cat licks?

My Personal Greeter

Cat Welcome

My cat Romeo seems to know when the time for me to get home is coming. Hubby’s been home for a while now and he’s had the opportunity to watch the cats in action. He tells me that every day at about 1:00 the cat will jump up onto the couch and look for my truck. When I walk in the door at about a quarter after the cat runs over to the door. I say hi and he meows back. He’s like my own personal greeter. I love the feeling knowing he missed me, as I adore him. After we’ve said hello he follows me from room to room until I put my things down and stop to pet him. Now that he knows how to tell time I wish that I could get him to learn how to do things like find a cheap car insurance quote.

Cats Playing With The Television

Cats Watching Cat On Tv

Is your cat interested in the television? One of ours will sit in front of it and swat at it at times. Soemtimes he does it when there’s a brightly colored character like in cartoon shows. He always does it when we’re playing certain brightly colored video games. You’ll be playing and all of a sudden a paw will appear in your line of sight swatting at the picture. it’s pretty funny. Interestingly enough, he’s never shown any interest in the computers monitor. Is your cat interested in television? What does he do?

Cats And Cars

motor home

Many dogs seem perfectly at home in cars. Cats, however, are another story. I have never had a cat that was comfortable riding in a car. They always got stressed, nervous or upset. I wonder if they might be more comfortable in a camper, where there’s more room to relax and roam. They’d probably only need to be put in a carrier if you had to get emergency motor home repair, so they wouldn’t get out. Does your cat like traveling in a car?

Do Cats Daydream?

Cat With Rifle

Do your cats ever stop and listen to something you can’t see? Every once in a while mine will stop and stare at a wall or the ceiling, and seem to listen quite intently. I believe their hearing is better than mine, so I sometimes wonder if they’re actually hearing something or if they’re daydreaming. I imagine a cat daydream might be about catching a mouse of something. I wonder if they use rifle scopes or catch them on their own in the daydreams…

Tips To A Cat Litter Box That Doesn’t Smell

Hooded Litter Box

This might sound funny but not everyone cleans or changes a litter box the same way. Here’s what I’ve found helpful when cleaning ours.

I like to completely change ours weekly.
Start out with a clean empty box. Be sure the sides and bottom are completly clean.
Add lots of fresh litter. We use a scented litter. Leave enough extra litter that it will fill in what is used, soiled and removed during the week.
I check the box for dirty or wet litter at least once a day, sometimes twice. Always twice if there is more than one cat.
Near the litter box I keep a scoop, as well as a tiny dustpan and brush. If some litter escapes I sweep it up and throw it away when I’m cleaning the box.
That’s it.
If you follow the above steps you shouldn’t have any odor. If you do you may want to consider finding yourself some Proflowers Valentine flower deals and putting the flowers in the bathroom.

Murphy And The Sink

Bathroom Sink

We once had a cat that loved to sleep in the sink. He wouldn’t when there was water in it, obviously, but he would if it was a little damp because of the bathroom faucets running. In all the time he did that I never had a problem with the sink clogging due to a collection of cat hair. How is it that we have two cats now and neither one goes in the sink, but my bathroom sink is clogging? Murphy’s Law strikes again.

Getting A Pet From A Rescue Group

Cat Help Find Friends Cozy Home

Rescue groups can be a terrific place to find a family pet. There are many rescue groups out there, some specific to an animal breed or type and some that take any animal. The groups handle all sorts of animals including abandoned, neglected, abused, unwanted animals. Some also have animals whose owners could no longer keep or care for them. These groups all have the same goal – to find unwanted animals a home. Rescue groups depend on volunteers and donations, as well as publicity and speakers to get their message out.

Once you find an animal you’d like to adopt, or a rescue group you’d like to adopt through, you’ll most likely have to submit a very detailed application containing lots of information about you, your family and your home. The rescue group screens potential owners and homes, to make sure they will be a good fit with the animal being adopted. Some even ask for personal references and the name of your veterinarian. If they determine you and a pet are a good match you will be asked for an adoption fee. Many rescue organizations are non-profit. These fees help offset the costs of care for animals in rescue, including food, vet exams and any medical treatment.

Favorite Cat Toys

Cat Toy Mice

There are a lot of cat toys on the market. The new cat owner most assuredly walks down the aisle wondering which toy their new cat or kitten will enjoy. Popular toys include stuffed toys, catnip toys, chase toys and balls. Since your new cat can’t just shop for himself with gift cards online, here are a few things to keep in mind.

Stuffed cat toys are popular. Cats like to grab and bite things. Just be sure that the toy you select doesn’t have anything harmful or anything tiny that shouldn’t be ingested.Sometimes cats become so attached to stuffed toys that they not only play with them but they also sleep with them

Catnip toys are almost always a hit. There are toys with catnip in them and then toys with catnip on them. I’ve always found that the toys with catnip in them seemed to be appreciated more. Cats can play hard, and then sleep hard, after time with a catnip toy.

Fishing type toys are great. They allow the cat to chase small prey and get exercise. The best thing about these toys is the interactivity with you, since you are the one holding the stick.

Play can be healthy and is necessary. Find the right toys and your cat will enjoy play time even more.
