My husband likes tuna fish. Every once in a while he’ll see me come in from grocery shopping and notice cans of tuna fish as well as cans of cat food. Once he asked me if I was sure I was feeding him the cat food. I told him I was. this joke reminds me of that.
This woman has her bridge club every Thursday night and after a peaceful game or two with the ladies, she goes home to fix her husband dinner when he gets home from work. Well, one Thursday, she’s playing a great game and she has an incredible hand when she notices the time. “Oh, no! I have to go fix my husband his dinner! He’s going to be so angry if it’s not ready on time.” And she dashes out fo her friend’s house, her great hand forgotten on the table.
When she gets home, she realizes she has very little time, not enough time to go to the grocery store, and all she has in the cupboard is a wilted lettuce leaf, an egg, and a can of cat food. In a panic, she opens the can of cat food, stirs in the egg, and garnishes it with the lettuce leaf just as her husband is pulling up. She watches in horror as he sits down to his dinner, and then she realizes he is loving it!
“Mmmm, honey, this is the best dinner you have made for me in forty years of marriage. You can make this for me any old day, mmmmm!” And that night they had sex for the first time in months and it was great!
Needless to say, every Thursday from then on, she made this dinner for her husband. She tells her bridge cronies about it and they are all horrified. “You’re going to kill him,” they say, or “He’s just yanking your chain,” but she continued to make him his cat food dinner and then, afterwards, they would have relations.
Two months later, her husband died and all the bridge women the Thursday after the funeral attacked our new widow for being so callous. “You killed him! We told you that feeding him that cat food every week would do him in! How can you just sit there so calmly and play bridge knowing you murdered your husband?”
The wife stoicly replied, “Ahh, I didn’t kill him, he fell off the mantel when he was licking his butt.”

This might sound funny but not everyone cleans or changes a litter box the same way. Here’s what I’ve found helpful when cleaning ours.
I like to completely change ours weekly.
Start out with a clean empty box. Be sure the sides and bottom are completly clean.
Add lots of fresh litter. We use a scented litter. Leave enough extra litter that it will fill in what is used, soiled and removed during the week.
I check the box for dirty or wet litter at least once a day, sometimes twice. Always twice if there is more than one cat.
Near the litter box I keep a scoop, as well as a tiny dustpan and brush. If some litter escapes I sweep it up and throw it away when I’m cleaning the box.
That’s it.
If you follow the above steps you shouldn’t have any odor. If you do you may want to consider finding yourself some Proflowers Valentine flower deals and putting the flowers in the bathroom.

We once had a cat that loved to sleep in the sink. He wouldn’t when there was water in it, obviously, but he would if it was a little damp because of the bathroom faucets running. In all the time he did that I never had a problem with the sink clogging due to a collection of cat hair. How is it that we have two cats now and neither one goes in the sink, but my bathroom sink is clogging? Murphy’s Law strikes again.

Rescue groups can be a terrific place to find a family pet. There are many rescue groups out there, some specific to an animal breed or type and some that take any animal. The groups handle all sorts of animals including abandoned, neglected, abused, unwanted animals. Some also have animals whose owners could no longer keep or care for them. These groups all have the same goal – to find unwanted animals a home. Rescue groups depend on volunteers and donations, as well as publicity and speakers to get their message out.
Once you find an animal you’d like to adopt, or a rescue group you’d like to adopt through, you’ll most likely have to submit a very detailed application containing lots of information about you, your family and your home. The rescue group screens potential owners and homes, to make sure they will be a good fit with the animal being adopted. Some even ask for personal references and the name of your veterinarian. If they determine you and a pet are a good match you will be asked for an adoption fee. Many rescue organizations are non-profit. These fees help offset the costs of care for animals in rescue, including food, vet exams and any medical treatment.

I love online shopping. It’s awesome year round, because of the time it saves me. But I find it most helpful and invaluable during the holiday season. The biggest benefits of online shopping is not having to go to the store or mall. No hunting for a parking spot! No crowds. No lines. Nice! The second biggest benefit is that with online shopping you can buy online and then ship directly to the gift recipient – not needed for everyone but a big help to the last minute shopper. The third biggest benefit is the ability to compare pricing without going from store to store, or without making one phone call after another. What do you like, or dislike, about online shopping at the holidays?

There are a lot of cat toys on the market. The new cat owner most assuredly walks down the aisle wondering which toy their new cat or kitten will enjoy. Popular toys include stuffed toys, catnip toys, chase toys and balls. Since your new cat can’t just shop for himself with gift cards online, here are a few things to keep in mind.
Stuffed cat toys are popular. Cats like to grab and bite things. Just be sure that the toy you select doesn’t have anything harmful or anything tiny that shouldn’t be ingested.Sometimes cats become so attached to stuffed toys that they not only play with them but they also sleep with them
Catnip toys are almost always a hit. There are toys with catnip in them and then toys with catnip on them. I’ve always found that the toys with catnip in them seemed to be appreciated more. Cats can play hard, and then sleep hard, after time with a catnip toy.
Fishing type toys are great. They allow the cat to chase small prey and get exercise. The best thing about these toys is the interactivity with you, since you are the one holding the stick.
Play can be healthy and is necessary. Find the right toys and your cat will enjoy play time even more.

Climbing towers may seem expensive to some but I think they’re well worth it. Climbing towers allow a cat to have fun and exercise while protecting other areas of your home. By climbing on the tower your cat may not climb your drapes or tall furniture. By scratching/sharpening his claws on a part of a tower your cat may leave the rest of your furniture alone – unshredded. Some of the larger towers even have an area where a cat can hide, which also makes a nice napping spot. You can hang other toys from a tower, allowing your cat to really enjoy playing with those toys. We spent $150 on a five level cat tower about twenty yers ago. My husband questioned the purchase, along with my sanity. Our cat loved that tower. He played in it daily for years. He always sharpened his claws on it, completely shredding one whole section but preserving all of our furniture. If you have a kitten or are planning on getting one then you need to consider getting a cat tower.

Cats generally do a great job of keeping themselves clean. From time to time you may find it necessary to assist, if your cat is really dirty, or is sick or older. Please note that a bath seems to have no effect on htc desire or cats in heat, just in case you’re wondering.)
My first tip is to start bathing your cats young. Even though they may not need the bath from you it will get them into the habit of being bathed.
My second tip is to bathe the cat in a sink. Tubs seem like a good idea but they’re larger and to me the cats seem a bit more frightened when they see the tub. It’s also a lot easier to bathe the cat comfortably if you’re standing, rather than kneeling.
Have everything you need to give the bath handy. You don’t want to stop part way through giving a bath because you forgot something. You’ll need shampoo and a towel.
I find it works best to bathe my cats having them standing in the sink, but not filling the sink with water. I’ve had the most success by letting warm water run gently while bathing them. They’re less frightened because they’re not immersed and you don’t have to deal with the water turning on and off.
Follow the directions on the shampoo. Be gentle and patient, and speak to your cat throughout the bath.
Good luck!
